  • Dr. Bettina DeRyck, Clinical Psychologist

    Dr. DeRyck is a registered Psychologist in the province of Ontario, with specialization in the practice of clinical psychology, health and rehabilitation psychology with adolescents, adults, and seniors. She provides couples counseling generally, as well as within the context of coping with physical conditions or brain injury. Dr. DeRyck provides clinical counselling services for a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, interpersonal issues, health issues, retirement considerations, and a variety of current and historical traumas. She also works with First Responders, Canadian Veterans, and injured workers through WSIB.

    She received her Honours B.A. in Psychology from York University, and completed master’s and doctoral degrees in the Clinical Psychology Program at Queen’s University. At Queen’s she spent several years teaching Adult Developmental Psychology and worked in the health centre as an individual and crisis counsellor. She completed her internship training in the adult stream of the Neuropsychology & Neuropsychiatry Program at Hamilton Health Sciences. She subsequently spent two years working with chronic pain patients in the intensive four week program at the Chedoke Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, providing individual counselling and group sessions.

    Dr. DeRyck is experienced in the assessment and treatment of individuals with physical injuries and other health conditions. She provides therapy to address emotional, physical, social, cognitive, and return to work issues following an injury or brain injury. She offers individual and couples counselling drawing upon a variety of treatment modalities, primarily cognitive-behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, systems theory, and trauma-informed care. Dr. DeRyck also provides consultation services, recommendations and support to clients with large treatment teams who need integrated, coordinated, and consistent care. Dr. DeRyck has been an associate of Storrie, Velikonja and Associates since January 2005.
